Aldi has launched a vegan barbecue range, featuring plant-based burgers, kebabs and salads.

What's on offer?

Aldi's two Plant Menu Veggiebabs (£1.69) are the first of this summer's barbecue treats for those following a plant-based diet.

For something a little more exotic, try the Zanzibar Veggiebabs, which are made with a blend of courgette, chickpeas and roasted red peppers, and seasoned with curry spices, coconut, coriander and chilli.

Then there are the Korean-inspired skewers - mushroom-based kebabs packed with seitan, sweet potatoes, courgettes and rice. They're seasoned with Asian inspired flavours of garlic, ginger, spring onion and hot Sriracha sauce. Enjoy fresh off the grill and packed into a pitta, for a summertime dinner with some spice.

The Plant Menu Burgers (£1.69 for a pack of two), are a must at any barbeuce, and are available in Peri Peri or Teriyaki flavours.

The Peri Peri patties are a blend of brown rice, sweet potato, red peppers, sweetcorn and carrots, and are topped with a Peri Peri glaze. The Teriyaki burgers are made with a mix of cooked rice, broccoli, cauliflower, onion, carrot and red pepper, and come with a sachet of Teriyaki glaze.

Enjoy grilled to perfection in a burger bun, or lay on top of leafy greens and drizzle in a sesame ginger dressing for an al fresco Asian-inspired salad.

The Plant Menu Quarter Pounders (£1.29 for a pack of two) are made from soy and pea protein, which gives a meat-like taste and texture. Serve them with soft buns and a dollop or two of your favourite condiments.

Vegan sides

Aldi's Vegan Potato Salad (costing 70p) is made with diced potato, shredded spring onions and chives, and an egg-free mayonnaise made using fava bean protein. This is the perfect plant-based alternative to a traditional potato salad.

Finally the new Vegan Coleslaw (also 79p), combines a shredded vegetable medley of cabbage, carrot and onion, in an egg-free mayonnaise.
