Jet2 is restarting flights and holiday deals to the Canary Islands

Holiday operator Jet2 plans to relaunch its flights and holiday packages to the Canary Islands from next week.

It is thought that holidaymakers will be able to book travel packages to destinations in the Canaries from Friday 30 October.

This follows the reintroduction of the Canary Islands to the UK Foreign Office’s travel corridor list. The change means that, from 4am Sunday 25 October, any UK residents returning from the islands will not be required to self-isolate, unless they have coronavirus.

Which destinations does this include?

Unlike mainland Spain and the Balearic Island, the FCDO has also updated its advice on the Canary Islands and no longer warns against all non-essential travel to the area.

Flights to Tenerife will resume on 30 October, whereas Gran Canaria, Lanzarote and Fuerteventura flights will get back underway on 2 November.

Passengers can book packages from all of Jet2’s UK airport partners, including Belfast International, Birmingham, East Midlands, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Leeds Bradford, Manchester, Newcastle and London Stansted.

Steve Heapy, CEO of Jet2.com and Jet2holidays said, "We welcome today’s announcement and we know that our customers, who want to get flying again, will do so too.

"For some time we have been calling for a proportionate, evidence-based approach to safe travel and this is very much a step in the right direction. There is much to do still, and we look forward to working with government to achieve that."

Am I allowed to go on holiday?

For people living in Tier 2 or Tier 3 areas of England, as well as the rest of the UK, it is worth noting that current advice is to avoid travel unless it is necessary for work, education or to provide care.
