This is when the BBC’s new Morning Live show is on TV with presenters Kym Marsh and Gethin Jones

The BBC launched a brand new morning show this week which is set to rival Lorraine Kelly’s popular morning programme on ITV.

The show has proved a hit with viewers so far, with more than one and a half million people tuning in for the debut episode on Monday 26 October.

Described as a “daily, topical live series”, the conversational show will cover a mix of content aiming to both entertain and inform viewers and respond to any of their concerns.

The series aims to cover everyday issues which may be affecting viewers and offer them expert advice. Face mask hygiene and the health benefits of the clocks going back were two subjects covered during the programme’s first week.

Here’s everything you need to know about the new show.

Who are the presenters?

The series is hosted by former Coronation Street actress Kym Marsh and BBC veteran Gethin Jones.

Marsh, who also hosts BBC One’s Your Money and Your Life, said she was “really excited” about her new presenting role.

She said: “I’ve always enjoyed morning TV, it’s a great way to start the day (with a cuppa in hand of course). I love nothing more than a good catch up, although this will be on a slightly different scale, more of a daily conversation with our lovely viewers.

“I think variety is key so I’m really excited to work with Gethin and our fantastic guest presenters to bring the latest in lifestyle, health and consumer concerns.”

Welshman Jones, who presents on The One Show, described the role as a “dream”.

He added: “A presenting role on a morning show like this is a bit of a dream for me. What I’m most excited about is the opportunity to delve in to some of the biggest issues at the heart of our everyday lives right now.

“I’m looking forward to working alongside Kym to bring viewers across the UK a much needed boost and of course the important information they need.”

Where is the show filmed?

Filmed in the BBC Studios, the two presenters chat through the morning’s topics against a homely set which incorporates green, orange and mustard tones.

Thanks to the wooden panelling, floral designs and antique rug, some Twitter users compared the set up to one a 1950s living room.

Although it looks very different, savvy viewers recognised the shooting location as the same place where The One Show is filmed in the evening.

When is Morning Live on?

As BBC Daytime’s flagship morning show, Morning Live will air every weekday on BBC One between 9:15am and 10am, directly after the BBC Breakfast show.

The show kicked off on Monday 26 October, and is due to run up until Christmas, although it is thought the BBC will extend the programme into the new year if it proves popular with audiences.

Lorraine also airs at 9am every weekday morning, so Morning Live will be competing with ITV for its viewers.
