Sometimes finding your perfect ice cream flavour can be tricky - everyone has different tastes and classic flavours like vanilla, chocolate and raspberry ripple might just not be the one for you.

If you’re a fan of condiments, like ketchup, mayonnaise or barbecue sauce, and ice cream, have you ever considered combining the two? Heinz has created DIY kits for anyone who wants to give it a try.

Condiment ice cream kits

Heinz has launched limited edition Heinz Creamz, which let you experience your favourite Heinz sauces as ice cream.

There are five flavours up for grabs, so rest assured your favourite condiment is likely on the list:

  • Ketchup
  • Mayonnaise
  • BBQ
  • Saucy sauce
  • Salad cream

Each flavour comes with instructions to make your curious condiment ice cream, as well as a reusable ice cream tub, a limited edition engraved golden scoop and spoon, and your chosen condiment.

There is also a vegan recipe for a Heinz Ketchup Sorbet so those on a plant-based diet don’t have to miss out on the fun.

Where can I buy them?

If your curiosity has been piqued by the savoury ice cream flavours from Heinz, you can get your hands on a kit straight from the Heinz website.

Each kit costs £15 and delivery costs £3.50 to England, Scotland and Wales, and £4 to Northern Ireland.

You should allow two to three days for your kit to arrive, or up to seven days if you’ve personalised your order.

Ketchup ice cream recipe

All of the DIY ice cream recipes are on the Heinz website.

To make ketchup ice cream, you’ll need the following ingredients:

  • 200g double cream
  • 170g condensed milk
  • 70g whole milk
  • 70g squeeze of Heinz tomato ketchup

You’ll also need a whisk or mixer and a freezer-safe bowl - no ice cream machines needed.

Begin by chilling your ingredients in the fridge for at least an hour. Then simply add all your ingredients to a bowl and mix together.

You’ll want to mix everything together until the mixture forms soft peaks - this means that when you turn your whisk upside down, the peaks are just starting to hold.

Pour your mixture into the Heinz Creamz tub that came in your pack - or a freezer safe container - and leave to set in the freezer for a minimum of three hours.

Heinz suggests serving your ketchup ice cream with crumbled meringues and drizzled with raspberry coulis.
