The 28-year-old, whose PB is 52.84m which was set back in 2006, started well to lie fifth after the first round with a modest throw of 44.34m.

She then stepped it up in the second round though, throwing an impressive 49.82m to move up to third place, where she stayed throughout the competition.

Despite a consistent set of throws, she could not quite reach the 54.53m throw of second place Izzy Jeffs, or the 11-times British champion Goldie Sayers, who threw a massive 62.75m.

Blair is coached by Luton stalwart Dave Burrell, who was there to witness her medal.
