The men’s team lacked the depth of the ladies but there were some excellent individual performances.

A back-to-form John McDonnell finished second in a field of 350, followed by Ian Kimber, showing good form before he runs the Frankfurt marathon later this month.

Pick of the Juniors was a fine third place by Luke King in the U15 boys race as followed by Ben Abubacker (sixth), Callum Gardner (eighth) and Michael Morony (31st) as the team placed third.

There were many good individual performances throughout notably from Leah Jay (seventh) and Euan Turner (ninth) in the U11 races, plus Antonio Khan (16th) and Elizabeth Bentham (20th) in the U13 and Georgia Nunn (19th) in the U15 girls race.

Luton finished sixth overall out of 14 teams in the league and the next fixture is at Keysoe, North Beds on November 8.
