ATHLETICS: GB call-up for Bakare

Luton athlete Sabrina Bakare has been named in the Great Britain & Northern Ireland junior team to compete at the annual Loughborough International Athletics Match on Sunday.

The World Youth 400m champion is part of the squad who will take on England, Scotland, Wales, British Universities and hosts Loughborough.

Bakare, who turned 18 yesterday, ran a season’s best to win the 400 SW B event Women’s League event at Lee Valley on Sunday, clocking 54.69 secs to just edge out Laviai Nielsen.

Bakare is now hoping to gain the selection time for the World Juniors, which takes place in Eugene USA in July.

Fellow Luton athletes are performing well this term too.
