ATHLETICS: Luton AC finish in seventh place

The final fixture of the Chiltern Cross-Country League season took place in cold and windy conditions on a very muddy course at Campbell Park, Milton Keynes last weekend.

There was a smaller turnout of Luton AC runners than usual, but a significant number of U11 girls running matched that of the Senior men.

Those taking part produced a few outstanding displays, especially Ryan Saint (ninth) Christine Lathwell (sixth) and Revee Walcott-Nolan (ninth).

Despite a below par display, Luton maintained their mid-table position to finish seventh in the league.

The only team winners were the U11 boys who took silver medals behind Chiltern Harriers. This was largely due to consistent runs throughout the season from Josh Mercer, Theo Winfield and Christian Davey and not least the contribution by Gianni Khan, who tragically died over the Christmas period.

The ladies just missed out on the team medals finishing fourth but Christine Lathwell claimed victory in the individual V35 category. Other top 10 finishes came from Tom Mead, who was seventh Senior man, Rhys Lewis, ninth Junior, Luke King, seventh U15 and Michael Moroney, ninth U13.
