ATHLETICS: Luton AC finish in third place

A depleted Luton AC, sponsored by Gibbs and Dandy and supported by Luton Rotary Club, finished third in their second Southern Athletics League match of the season at the weekend.

In the throws, Dave Burrell and son, Jamie Potton-Burrell, had a great day scoring almost half the Men’s points tally.

Potton-Burrell threw a PB of 11.68m to take second in the shot, while Burrell threw 11.30m for second in the B event.

In the hammer, Potton-Burrell threw another PB of 53.05m for second place and Burrell was second in the B event with 44.08m.

The javelin saw Burrell throw 39.44m for fourth and Potton-Burrell achieve 32.97m for third.

Burrell measured 35.07m for second in the discus, backed up by Potton-Burrell who threw 29.89m for second in the B event.

Craig Andrew returned to the high jump finishing third with 1.70m, and then went on to take second place in the 100m (11.5secs), with Tope Fisayo also finishing second (12.4secs) in the B string.

In the triple jump, Andrew finished in fourth with 13.21m, again backed up by Fisayo who won the B with a PB of 12.66m.

Andrew finished second in the long jump with 6.28m and Andrew Bullimore was second in the B with 5.72m.

On the track, Andy McMulkin came second (9.13.8mins) in the 3,000m.

McMulkin then went on to win the 1,500m (4.22.2mins) and was second in the 3,000m steeplechase in 10.58.1mins.

In the throws, Suzy Wise and Nat Kimble were in excellent form scoring a massive 26 points.

There was a double win in the hammer with Wise throwing 43.65m and Kimble a PB of 20.28m. Another double win followed in the discus, Wise throwing 33.21m and Kimble 24.41m.
