ATHLETICS: Luton duo chasing Olympic dream in Birmingham

Two Luton AC athletes' lives could change dramatically when they compete for Olympic places in the televised British Athletics Championships held at the Alexander stadium in Birmingham this weekend.

Javelin thrower Jo Blair recently won at the Loughborough International meeting, with a throw of 54.91m to rank her second in the country behind British record holder Goldie Sayers.

Finishing in the first two would guarantee her an Olympic place but she would also need a qualifying throw of 62m.

Meanwhile, another athlete in the form of her life is 21-year-old Revee Walcott-Nolan.

At the BMC Gold races held last week at Watford, she ran a lifetime best in the 800m of 2.2.32mins finishing behind World Championship semi-finalist Shelayna Oskan-Clarke but in front of Commonwealth medallist Steph Twell.

Walcott-Nolan’s time was tantalisingly only 0.8secs outside the Olympic qualifying time and one second faster than she ran two weeks ago in Belgium.

A similar improvement at the weekend could see her win a coveted place in Rio this summer.
