ATHLETICS: Luton ladies finish fourth

The second Chiltern League cross country fixture took place in Teardrop Lakes in Milton Keynes but unfortunately for Luton AC runners, wind and heavy rain made difficult conditions for most of the day.

There were mixed fortunes for the Senior men who despite excellent performances from John McDonnell and Daniel Woodgate – finishing second and fourth – the club could only field six of a 10-man team and came 14th.

The Senior ladies fared better with a fine win from Rosie Keane and strong displays by Claire McMahon-Adie (15th) and Jenny Evans (24th) to maintain their fourth place.

The best team showing on the day came from the U15 girls, with Libby Jay an excellent third as Natasha Hayman (10th) Elizabeth Bentham (11th) and Naomi Holt (32nd) saw them take third team place.

A strong U15 boys team also maintained third with Ben Warren (11th), Ben Winfield 13th), Michael Moroney (14th) and Ryan Saint (15th) packing well, while U11s Leah Jay (ninth) and Max Winfield (13th) also ran well.

Overall Luton slipped one place to 10th in the leagues first division.
