Stopsley Striders

Stopsley Striders swapped the streets of Luton to run in the sun in Palma, Majorca, last Sunday.

Chris Lamont, Dave Debnam, Chris McClaren and Phil Abbitt all completed the Palma Half-Marathon, where Lamont came second in his age group, and Andy Reid, Paul Keech, Gill McLaren, Tony Burrows, Pam Abbitt and Judy Reid ran in the Palma 10km race, Reid triumphing in his age category.

Closer to home, 10 Striders took part in the Ampthill Trophy on Sunday, a demanding 8km cross-country race round Ampthill Park.

Louise Peters finished second lady overall and was followed in by Stuart Harries, Alison Sugars, Jeff Dowsett, Matt Crossland, Finbar Willis, Gordon McCulloch, Linda Kelly, Kim Willis and Abbitt.

Also on Sunday, Paul Keech and Graham Busch took part in the Greensand Marathon in Surrey, a hilly race which incorporates 5,200 feet of climbing over its 26.2 miles.

Boxfit Triathlon Club

Boxfit Triathlon club took on the tough cross-country Ampthill Trophy race on Sunday. Boxfit ladies team came first as Miram Tedder, Sarah Deed and Emma Maggott looked strong all the way round.

The side were also the second mixed team thanks to Paul Halford, Dave Coard and Tedder.
