Tom Best won the final race of the Luton AC Summer series in 36.25mins at the weekend.

Following his 5K win at Wardown and third place in the 5 mile, Best also took the series title in a total time of 1.21.25hrs.

Robert Palmer, making a rare appearance, finished strongly in second place only seven seconds behind Best.

Unattached runner Martin Davern gained his first podium place finishing third and second in the series.

In fifth was David Green of Harpenden Arrows, first in the Masters category and third in the series.

The Ladies race saw visitors from Ireland figure strongly with Sinead Palley of St Finbarrs AC a comfortable winner in 40.02mins.

She finished above Kirstie Meeten of Bedford Harriers AC (42.01mins) and Christine Howard from Billericay AC (42.37mins).

Meeten took the series title in the time of 1.35.19hrs with Stopsley Striders duo Alison Sugars and Miriam Tedder second and third.

The Masters awards went to Gez Fallon and Joanna Jeffs.
