BIATHLON: Putteridge SC in fine form

Putteridge SC’s Junior Tri section competed in the East Region Qualifying Biathlon Championships recently.

Daniel Millar finished second overall in his age group, while Mathew Haden was third overall.

He came fourth in the 1,600m running leg but made it up on the swim where he took over three seconds off his 200m PB, clocking 2.18.10mins.

JJ Wilde was second overall in his first ever Biathlon Championships as he came third the running leg (800m) but second in the swim giving him a fine time overall, where he earned a PB.

Aisling Hargadon finished fifth overall in her category, while Wilde, Haden and Millar have automatically qualified for the National Biathlon Championships in Solihull in November, plus the British Schools Biathlon Championships in March next year at Crystal Palace.

Tri head coach Graeme Crowston said: “It’s great to see our swimmers now competing in Biathlon and enjoying their swimming, it’s a very exciting time for our Tri Squad.”
