Niall Duffy, 16, from Stronnell Close, won bronze in the 60kg division.

In only his 28th bout, Niall lost a very close contest by split decision, against the experienced Surik Jangojan of Germany, who was having his 85th fight.

Francis Storey, 15, of Ryton Close also won the bronze medal in the 57kg division.

Storey, taking part in his 17th bout, was drawn against the Polish champion Krystian Papis, who was unbeaten in 47 fights.

The teenager gave a fine performance, but Papis got the nod, as both he and Duffy gained valuable experience boxing at such a high level.
