Daly unveiled as newest Shamrock BC signing

UNDEFEATED Northampton light heavyweight Liam Daly has become Shamrock Boxing’s latest signing and will be on The Home Coming bill at the Bedford Corn Exchange on Friday, May 18.

Daly, 28, is a twice ABA finalist and became British University champion before turning professional.

The first three fights for the man from Sligo in Ireland resulted in wins before he took time out to complete his studies.

Daly said: “I am so happy to be back in the mix and resume my career with Mervyn Turner and the Shamrock boys, to be on this bill is like a dream for me.

“Mervyn has helped me a lot and the team work hard to make sure the boxers are successful, so I really want to get a win for them as much as myself.

“I know the fans will come out in force for this bill and I hope to keep my winning streak going under Mervyn.”

Bedford heavyweight Matt Skelton is topping the bill and his opponent has been named as 31-year-old Lithuanian Igor Borucha who has six wins and one draw from his 27 fights, but only been knocked out once and stopped once.

“Since the bill was announced the reaction has been fantastic,” said Turner. “It shows that there is a real appetite for boxing in the area and people will come out in support of Matt and the other lads on the bill.

“I can assure people they will not only see some great boxing but leave having been entertained.”
