Devine earns knockout win

LUTON boxer Michael Devine earned his sixth pro victory after knocking out Lithuanian Vladimiras Balaklijec in the second round at York Hall last Saturday.

The 22-year-old, who was stepping up to six rounds for the first time, unleashed some devastating blows to down his opponent three times before referee Ian John-Lewis stepped in.

Over 100 supporters travelled up from Luton and trainer James Paisley said: “He boxed to instruction in the first and worked body and head with great success to put a come forward fighter on the back foot.

“He still has a lot to learn before he will become the complete boxer and reach his full potential.”
