Luton boxer Michael Devine has got his wish with a fight against Danny ‘Cassius’ Connor scheduled for September 6 at York Hall.

The bout for the vacant British Masters lightweight title was the first thing on Devine’s mind after he won the International Masters Silver lightweight title against Tornike Tortladze earlier this month.

Opponent Connor, 28, from London has won 11, lost eight and drawn one of his 20 previous bouts.

After drawing his first fight in 2010, he then lost his next four, before stringing together a run of eight wins from nine.

In that time he won the British Masters lightweight title, plus the Southern Area light welterweight title and only lost it against Tony Owen at the O2 Arena in October last year.

Connor also took part in the light welterweight Prizefighter last year, where he reached the final before losing to Chris Jenkins.

This year he has fought twice, losing on points to Tyler Goodjohn and then beating Arek Malek in April.
