Although Devine was beaten on points by Jono Carroll during the lightweight tournament, he walked away £18,000 richer, but more importantly, raised his profile immeasurably in the process.

Speaking exclusively to the News/Gazette, Devine said: “It was a great opportunity for me and though I got beaten in the final, I can hold my head up high.

“Hopefully Matchroom like my fighting style and my heart and I might get opportunities now.

“I’m not taking anything away from Jono Carroll, but everyone’s talking about me and what I did on that night.”

One of the main reasons Devine’s name is on the lips of a number of boxing fans was due to the vicious punch he floored semi-final opponent Lee Martin with.

Sky Sports put a clip of the knock out on Youtube and it has since got almost 40,000 views, while Devine, who had suffered a shoulder injury during his opening bout, is now looking at fighting again in February.
