Devine to step back up to lightweight

Luton fighter Michael Devine is set to move back up to lightweight after winning the Southern Area super featherweight title by beating Dan Naylor, writes Mark Wood.

Devine, 24, had been touted to face Naylor in a rematch, but trainer James Paisley said: “We are going to go back up to lightweight.

“We have a six-round fight on June 29 (At York Hall) and then we’ll look at a Southern Area title fight at lightweight.

“We had no intention to stay at super featherweight anyway unless the right fight was there.

“I only said about the rematch as Naylor’s camp thought it was close. But there are more options at lightweight.”
