IN PICTURES: Luton Shamrock ABC’s annual St Patrick’s Day show

THE luck of the Irish deserted Luton Shamrock ABC as they only won two fights at their annual St Patrick’s Day show at the Vauxhall Riverside Suite on Saturday night.

Over 400 spectators were packed in for the show, which had proved difficult to match for Shamrock’s boxers because of ABA Championships taking place. Robert Price got the show off to a good start as he used his superior boxing skills to claim a majority victory over Sandy ABC’s Luke Porter, who had narrowly beaten him the week before.

The second bout saw a stylish performance from Laurence Tipper and he won a majority decision against Charlie Eales of Stevenage, with his superior movement and counter-punching catching the judges’ eyes.

Debutant Joe Gill showed he was one for the future, but nerves got the better of him, and he didn’t throw enough punches as Billy Allen of High Wycombe claimed a unanimous win.
