Jahmaine has something to Smyle about

POWERFUL Leicester fighter Jahmaine Smyle won ever round as he saw off Aberystwyth’s Jamie Ambler 40-36 on points, writes Mark Wood at ringside.

Ambler was a last-minute replacement for House of Champions fighter Manny Oshunrinde in this super ,iddleweight clash and simply couldn’t live with Smyle, who fought in the all-black shorts and weighed in at 12st 9lb at Luton’s Liquid nightclub on Sunday.

This was all one-way traffic as Smyle bossed the contest against his 11th-hour replacement, who fought in grey and black trunks and weighed in at 13st 1lb.

The Leicester fighter seemed content to work the body, while Ambler covered up and laid back on the ropes.

The second round started in the same vein as Smyle seemed able to land blows on the lanky Welshman at will.

However, Ambler fought his was back into the fight in a breathless round, although the more powerful blows seemed to be landed by the Midlander.

Powerful Smyle continued to hit home in the third and, while a flurry from Ambler caught the eye, it was clearly Smyle’s shots that were doing the hurting.

An action-packed fourth round rounded off the bout with Smyle twice landing sweet rights, the second straight down the middle which obviously hurt Ambler as he looked to battle back.

But there was no way back from the brink for Ambler, who despite trying to claim the victory at the final bell, lost every round to the Leicester fighter.
