Little makes a big impression

A HUGELY promising debut from Tom Little just lacked the knockout finish as he clubbed his was to an anphatic 40-36 point victory over Lithuanian Rolandas Cesna at Luton’s Liquid nightclub on Sunday afternoon, writes Mark Wood at ringside.

The 23-year-old Hatfield heavyweight was impressively quick for his size and his raking reach made it difficult for his brave opponent to get a look in.

Debutant Little sported a snazzy pair of white and gold trunks as the Hatfield fighter tipped the scales at 17st 8lb, while gutsy Cesna wore black and white shorts and tipped the scales at 15st 7lb.

Despite his bulk, Little made a brisk start and unloaded from the first bell.

His engaging style got the crowd going from the very beginning and, although he caught Cesna with a great right, he was unable to finish the job.

Little, so quick for a heavyweight and with a broom of a reach, continued to impress in the second.

Cesna was blowing hard as Little unleashed a series of powerful combos, although the Lithuanian looked to counter whenever he could.

Little’s powerful blows seemed to have the uncanny knack of finding their way through Cesna’s guard and a left hook troubled Cesna as the Graham Earl-trained fighter continued to press home his advantage.

The durable Cesna did well to stand up to a meaty barrage of blows from Little although a throbbing right seemed to leave its mark.

However, Cesna made it through to the final bell but could do nothing about the House of Champions fighter having his arm raised in victory.
