Reading collars a win on debut

BEAT bobby Paul Reading put in an arresting performance as he enjoyed a baptism of fire in his debut triumph in The Homecoming show at the Bedford Corn Exchange last Friday, writes Mark Wood.

The 38-year-old heavyweight, newly-signed by Luton Shamrock, put in a gritty performance on his bow as he claimed a narrow 38-37 victory over Lithuanian Rolandas Cesna.

It was the realisation of a long-held ambition for the Hitchin PC who said: "It's been eight years since I boxed last, but it was hard, very hard.

"I've had a lot of amateur fights, so it was a baptism of fire for me, I'm just happy, I will savour this one."
