The 20-year-old had beaten Lee Jenkins in the semi-finals the 75kg section before coming up against Ben Whittaker, where he lost out on points.

Speaking about the fight against his opponent from Wodensbrough BC, Reynolds said: “He is a Team GB member silver medallist in the Commonwealth and European games and at six foot three, is very tall, slick, young fighter.

“I was told to apply relentless pressure and draw him into a war with me.

“The first round I had it 50/50, as it could have gone either way.

“He was just running and tried catching me on the way in and hold me when I got in but I was working the body.

“In the second and third round, I thought I dominated him, pushed him back as I had the centre of the ring at all time.

“I was working head and body and making the fight happen as he was just being negative.

“It was a good fight, he got the win, but I don’t know how on a unanimous decision.”

To reach the final, Reynolds had to see off Eastbourne’s Lee Jenkins first, as he continued: “He’s a very strong man in his late 20s and tried to apply pressure on me throughout the whole fight and make it scrappy.

“I boxed on the back foot, picking my shots, but the second half of the fight I decided to push him back.

“I dropped him with a body shot in the second and then cruised to a unanimous point win.”

Despite the loss in the final to Jenkins, Reynolds has already turned his attentions on to his next step, adding: “It is what it is, I’ve got bigger things ahead of me now.

“I’m just looking forward to hearing my GB trial date and hopefully I will get on the team.”
