Shamrock BC announce exciting new partnership

Mervyn Turner from Shamrock Boxing said: “We have been speaking to Dennis for some time regarding some of our boxers and promoting in the area.

“Promoting is a natural progression for us, we have laid the foundations and now it is time to expand and we have some really great ideas to bring boxing events up to date.

“Having looked at what’s happening on the boxing scene we know we can make a difference for both the boxers and the fans.

“We want to give the fans some really exciting fights and a total ‘experience’, all too often the fans are taken for granted and that is why in some cases boxing has not been as successful as it should have been.

“The boxing fans and even the general public expect more for their hard-earned money and that’s what they will get when they come to one of our shows.

“Dennis Hobson has been promoting boxing for many years all over the world and has a great stable of boxers including the current British Commonwealth and European Champion, Jamie Mc Donnell.

“We have been looking to do something in the south of England for some time now and when we started talking with Mervyn we knew we were singing off the same sheet.

“Like us he has some great ideas and it will be exciting working with Shamrock boxing and seeing those ideas put into action.

“Shamrock Boxing has been increasing its stable of boxers and with the addition of regular promotion in the UK and abroad they intend to increase this even further.

“Together we are putting together a total package for our boxers from the raw novice right up to the most experienced talented, we will give them the tools they need to be a success.

“Our boxing events will allow them to gain experience and exposure through television and other multimedia platforms.

“The same professional approach will be given to the development of our boxers, not only in their technical training, but nutrition and fitness, media awareness, marketing and sponsorship packages.

“We have lined up a complete programme with the very best people in the industry so nothing will be left to chance when it comes to their success.

“For the boxers who show the talent and determination to succeed they will be given the platform to achieve their goals with training trips around the world to gain that valuable experience to reach the very top in professional boxing.

“We are now looking for boxers who want to join a winning team and be part of something special.

“There is a lot of talent in the three counties area and we aim to harness it and let it flourish.

“When we were looking for a partner we set our sights very high! WWe wanted someone with the same vision as us with a desire to put on great events and give the fans value for money but also something that the boxers would actually enjoy being part of, to promote them well with added value for everyone concerned.

“Someone who cares about the quality of the shows and who shared our passion for the sport, who cared about the boxer and also importantly someone who had a track record at the very highest level.

“We thought that was a big ask, but in Dennis Hobson we found someone who surpassed all our expectations and who shares our vision.

“Not only does he have a great passion for the sport but he really does care about the boxers and the fans, about the quality of what we are doing.

“He certainly has the experience at the very highest level and is well known in boxing circles around the world.

“A successful independent business man, Dennis does not need boxing, he is in it because he shares our great passion for the sport.

“It’s in the blood and I get very involved, you will see me in the corner with our boxers for whom I have the greatest admiration and respect.

And Hobson was delighted to seal the innovative deal with the Luton club.

He added: “I have promoted at the very top of the sport but still love the raw enthusiasm that you get from the up close and personal small hall shows.

“I think we can really bring boxing up to date and present an event that will be enjoyed by the boxing fans and attract new people to the sport.

“This is great news for local boxing fans and boxers alike, we now have a very stable partner who knows the business inside and who will invest where it is needed to be successful.

“Mark my words there are championship belts and success for the fans to celebrate in the not too distant future.

“I am sure that once people see what we are doing they will love it and we will increase our stable because boxers will want to be part of this exciting adventure.

“We have several shows lined up in the Home Counties area and London for 2012 and our first under the new banner will be in Bedford in mid May when the fans will see what we are all about.

A large number of Luton fighters are set to be involved, with Turner adding: “We intend to lay down a marker with this show and the bill will be announced very shortly but I can promise the fans a real treat.

“Many of our stable will be involved with a couple of surprise inclusions for this exciting home debut show.”
