Shamrock show is a real ‘knockout’

Hundreds of supporters turned out for the first of Luton Shamrock ABC’s dinner shows in the Riverside Suite at Vauxhall Recreation Centre recently.

Robert Price boxed the more experienced Jake Smith of Southend in an entertaining opener. Both boys fought well, but Smith ran out the winner on a majority decision.

Ameen Khan opened the scoring for Shamrock as he claimed a majority decision against Ashley Linnet of Cambridge Police ABC.

Khan put in his best performance yet to easily take the first round and followed up with more smart boxing to get in the better combinations in the second and third rounds.

The ever-popular and confident Laurence Tipper lost a split decision to Ashley Banks of Thame, but Tipper can take heart from his performance.

Joe Gill gained revenge over Hamza Butt from the previous week’s defeat with a comfortable victory.

Gill controlled the fight with his superior boxing skills as he countered well to win.
