Storey’s opponent was much-fancied two-time Southern Area champion and England representative Tommy Smith from Tenterden ABC, who had the advantage of experience, age and a home crowd behind him.

Lloyd Honeyghan and Steve Collins were among the high-profile celebrities from the boxing world in attendance, as Storey came out for the first round firing on all cylinders as he forced Smith back with some great body shots and long range left hooks to the head.

In the second, Smith tried to turn the tables with some counter-punching, only for Storey to find his mark and put Smith down halfway through the round as he finished strongly.

The final round was all Storey’s, with Smith unable to deal with his power as Storey claimed a unanimous points victory, having won all three rounds.

Storey has now won nine out of his 10 fights, with coaches Lee Dagnell and Michael O’Regan delighted with his performance on the night.
