Boxing-mad punters filled 23 tables for the showcase event, which boasted 15 three-round bouts, with many others crammed into an upstairs bar to watch the evening’s action unfold via a live video link.

The show marked a turnaround for the Academy’s fortunes, as the volunteer-run club had difficulty covering expenses on at least two shows last season.
