LUTON TOWN conceded their first goal from open play this season at Rotherham but Ricky Hill praised his defence this week.

Hill was particularly glowing in reference to Emmerson Boyce who has formed a strong central-defensive partnership with Julian Watts in the absence of injured skipper Marvin Johnson.

Boyce, 20, has been an ever-present this season and Hill has described his progress as "tremendous".

The Luton manager said: "Emmerson Boyce has been very consistent which is good because he s still a young lad.

"He s been tremendous in general since I have been here.

"Whether he can sustain that remains to be seen. He has a lovely temperament and fights for the team when he s out on the pitch.

"He makes a good central pairing with Julian Watts. I m not too disappointed with the goals against column, but I d like to think we can take more chances when they come along."
