Bullish Raiders secure Bedford win

GENTING Raiders ran out 80-70 winners over Bedford Bulls in their Herts Premier League Division One contest at Dunstable Leisure Centre on Sunday.

Raiders started well as, driven by Vivian Lee, their perimeter guards consistently found holes in the Bulls defence and began scoring with efficient ease using the dribble – drive.

A worrying aspect for hosts coach Leon Noel was the ease at which Bulls managed to score 20 points in the quarter as his side led 27-20.

The second period was almost identical to the first, but Raiders extended their lead to 51-39 with some dominant interior post play from ‘Twin Towers’ Mark Quashie and Nelson Kasosera.

Noel dished out a stern half time talk, urging his side not to be complacent, but a sluggish start to the third quarter by Genting saw Bulls outscore them 19-16 to trail 76-58.

Raiders re-grouped for the fourth quarter though and utilised the superior interior advantage they possessed over their opponents, as Quashie and Kasosera punished a smaller Bulls defence to earn a 10-point victory.
