Their combined time over the two runs in Winterberg, Germany, was 1.55.29mins.

Brakesman Watson, who lives in John Street Luton, will be hoping to compete in the 2018 Winter Olympics in South Korea.

The 20-year-old second year Sports Therapy student said: “I was really pleased with my performance and the team’s as a whole, especially as we were one of the youngest there.

“I haven’t had much experience on the side handles and was given just five training runs to impress before the Championships started, but the coaching team picked me and it was a proud moment representing my country.”
