Bashir and Wagh in the runs for Indians win

Luton Town and Indians started their Saracens Herts League Division One campaign with a 90-run win in Hitchin.

Opener Adnan Bashir and Sachin Wagh both made 70s as the hosts scored 191-9 from 50 overs, before Mohammad Irshad claimed 4-35, helping to bowl Hitchin out for 101.

The second team also got off to a winning start in Division 3B.

Gagan Kashyap, Divyesh Patel and M Younas Shan Ahmadzai each took three wickets as they defended a total of just 168 against Sawbridgeworth IIs, dismissing their opponents for 106.

Meanwhile in Division 5B, the IIIs won despite posting an even smaller tally of 133. Ayub Ahmed Khan did the damage, getting five of the Chipperfield top order and ending up with figures of 5-34 as the visitors were all out for 122.

Luton Town & Indians IVs were the only side to lose, as chasing Hatfield Hyde’s total of 187, they were dismissed for 142.

On Sunday, Luton Town and Indians posted their first victory of the Bedfordshire County League Premier Division season.
