Career best for Panesar

Luton cricketer Monty Panesar pressed his claims for an England recall by recording career best figures of 13-137 as Sussex drew with Somerset at the County Ground.

The 30 year-old bowled with great control as he returned figures of 7-60 in the first innings under the watchful eye of national selector James Whitaker as Somerset were bowled out for 247 in their County Championship Division One match at Taunton.

He then followed that up with 6-77 in the second innings as they were again dismissed for 195, but Sussex’s final run chase was thwarted by the weather.
