Double joy for Luton Town & Indians youngsters

Youngsters from Luton Town & Indians triumphed in two out of three matches at the Bedfordshire Youth Cricket League Finals at Flitwick recently.

In the U12s final, Town lost out to Bedford by 39 runs.

Bedford had batted first and totalled 101, before a fine fielding display restricted Luton to just 62-9.

Luton beat Queens Park Youth by 48 runs in the U14s final.

Javed scored 42, Adel Shah 23 and Rashid Afridi a quickfire 34 off just 14 balls as Town made 131-4 in 20 overs.

Queens Park were then dismissed for 83 thanks to some excellent bowling from Qasim Mehmood, who took three wickets, while Jamal Afridi and man of the match Rashid Afridi, picked up two each.

In the U16s final, Luton scored 180-5 as they saw off Clifton (100-8), by 80 runs.

Top performers for Town were Khuram Farooq (55), Mohammed Essa, (40) along with Shaan Ahmed Zai, who claimed three wickets.
