Farooq blasts 80 in LPCC victory

Usman Farooq scored an impressive 80 as LPCC beat Lions CC by 50 runs in their Luton Midweek Cricket League Premier Division clash on Tuesday night.

Batting first, LPCC racked up 175-6 thanks to Farooq’s knock, as he then took 2-22 from four overs as Lions fell short at 125-9.

Eagles earned a narrow 10-run win over Luton CC.

Abdul Rahim made an undefeated 11 for Eagles in their 107-7, but it was with the ball where he really impressed.

He took two wickets in one over to claim 2-16, as Luton could only reach 98-7.

Haiderys were comfortable beaten by Shaheen, losing by six wickets.

The hosts made 117-7 from 16 overs thanks to Shadrack Brown (38), Tanveer Hussain (20no) and Zawar Shah (17), while Naeem Shahzad took 3-10 and Mohammed Irshad 2-19.

Naeem Khan top scored with 61 not out in Shaheen’s 121-4, with Naeem Shahzad scoring 19.

In Division One, AKXI lost to AKCC by eight wickets after only making 98-7 with the bat.

Star man Jeetu Singh then hit an unbeaten 53 for AKXI as they reached 99-2.

Saracens fell to a five wicket defeat against K Cavaliers.

Batting first, Saracens made 120-8 from 16 overs, before Cavaliers reached 121-5 in reply, Kashif Ali top-scoring with 39.

A Specialist eased to an excellent 47-run win over Hawks. Star man Abrar Hussain scored 56 for Specialists as they made 145-3 from 16 overs.

Hawks only replied with 98-7 to fall well short.

In Division Two, Majestic went down by four wickets against H Tigers.

Majestic had first go of the pitch and totalled 130-7 as Majid Khan finished with 2-16 from his four overs.

Khan then made an undefeated 36 as Tigers reached 134-6 in the final over.

Hatters were 23-run winners over Kingsway in their clash.

Batting first, Hatters made 138-5 as Naseer top-scored with 50.

Kingsway were then indebted to a fine 50 from 15-year-old Ali Hasan, but they could only end on 115-7 as Naseer finished with 2-18 from four overs.

Cricketers edged past Challney by six runs.

The hosts batted first and made 106-7 from 16 overs as Zahir Raja scored 17 runs.

Challney then were restricted to 100-8 in their 16 overs as Raja starred once more, taking four wickets.
