Groves spins Pirton to victory
The win was largely thanks to Steve Groves, who bowled superbly to compile figures of 6-10 from just 7.1 overs.
Due to the previous week’s miserable weather, both teams were looking to field first on a slightly damp pitch which was ideal for bowling.

Langleybury had no answer to Groves’ spin and flight though as he took the last six wickets for the visitors to finish on 129.
After tea, Pirton’s batsmen set about the chase in workmanlike fashion.
Openers Laskowski (17) and Richard Falder (22) got the team off to a good start before Paul Hockley (30) and Hyden Andrew (31no) carried on the good work as the home side’s did not have to take many risks in reaching 130-4 in the 43rd over.
The villagers travel to Berkhamsted this weekend, while they also get their Herts Village Trophy campaign underway on Tuesday evening with a home fixture against two-time winners, Watton-at-Stone.
