Hayat the hero with both bat and ball

A close encounter saw Luton Pakistanis beat Luton Hawks by three runs in the Luton & District Midweek Cricket League Premier Division on Tuesday night.

Pakistanis scored 110-7 as Naeem Akhtar took 3-18, but man of the match Muzammal Hayat scored 19 and claimed three wickets to restrict Hawks to 107-8.

Luton CC scored 175-4, with star peformer Mohammed Fiaz firing 88 not out, as they beat Haiderys CC by 21 runs after they made 154-3.

Lions CC beat Luton Majestics by four wickets. Majestics totalled 93-7 as Furqan top scoed with 21, while Afroz Khan claimed 4-6.

Lions chased the target down in 14.2 overs with four wickets remaining thanks to Shahid Ashraf (31) and Nasir Ali Shah (28 not out).

In Division One a low-scoring game saw Luton Eagles hit 97-9 before bowling Haidreys Tigers out for 70 to win by 27 runs. Man of the match M Irfan took 5-14.

Shaheen CC scored 132 and then dismissed Luton Cricketers for 94 to win by 38 runs. Man of the match was Abdul Kadeer who took 5-21. There was a four-wicket win for AKCC (133-6) over Kingsway CC (129-3), with top performer Jeetu scoring 34.

A tie in Division Two saw Alpha CC score 108-4, before Cornered Tigers hit 108-6.

The man of the match award was shared between Khalid Hussain who scored 47 and Akhtar Hussain.

Elsewhere, Saracens amassed 143-6 to hammer Accident Specialists (82) by 61 runs.
