Hurricane too strong for Storm

Hurricane claimed victory against Storm in the Lord’s Taverners City Cup at Wardown Park on Friday.

Having won the toss and elected to bat, Storm reached 70-1 at the halfway stage before finishing on 138-4 as some tight bowling and excellent fielding restricted their total.

Usman Malik was the star with a quickfire 35.

In reply, Hurricane lost an early wicket, but with patient batting through the middle overs, the run-rate never got above eight an over. Zahoor Ur Rehman gave another man of the match performance with an unbeaten 70 as Hurricane reached their total in 19 overs.

Hurricane will look to maintain their 100 per cent record against RF Royals in the final group match at Luton Town & Indians CC at 5.45pm on Friday.

The winner will play the victors from Leicestershire in the quarter-finals in August.
