Pakistanis on top of the league after Luton win

Luton Pakistanis climbed to the top of the Luton & District Midweek Cricket League Premier table after comfortably beating Luton CC on Tuesday night.

Set a target of 112 to win, Ibrar Walayat led the way for Pakistanis by smashing 63 as his side race to the total with seven wickets in hand.

Luton United Stars inflicted a first defeat on Lions CC who made 106-8 in their allotted overs.

Stars then had Zahid Khan in fine form as he cracked an unbeaten half century to reach the target within 14 overs as they finished on 109-4.

Luton Majestics registered their first win of the season as they won a close match against Luton Hawks.

Majestics hammered 134 in their allotted overs with Asad Rashid hitting an unbeaten half century.

Hawks set the pace early on in their reply, but it all got too much as they fell were bowled out for 127, to fall seven runs short.

In Division One, Shaheen opened their account with a comfortable victory over Haidery Tigers who earlier managed 108-5.

Shaheen showed no signs of panic, reaching 109-4 to record an simple triumph.

Luton Cricketers hammered AFCC in their clash, winning by 44 runs.

Cricketers totalled 111-8, before restricting their opponents to 67-8, while Luton Saracens against Kingsway CC was postponed.

The Saracens remain top of Division Three as they won their third successive match, beating Kashmir Cavaliers by seven runs.

Saracens elected to bat first and posted 120-6 as Kashmir fell just short on 113-8.

Challney CC finally won their first game since 2011 as they slaughtered Alpha CC by 67 runs.

Electing to bat first, Challney CC had Raja Asar (27) and Shamas Mahmood (26_ in fine form as they helped their side reach a huge total of 134-6.

Alpha CC had no answer in response, as they were skittled out for just 67 as Talha Chauldry (3-13) and Mohammad Qamar (2-13) ripped through their batting line up.

New entrants Cornered Tigers tasted victory as they overcame AKXI who were restricted to 95-9 largely due to some outstanding bowling from Nasir Munir who took 5-10.

In reply, Tigers raced to their target thanks to Wasim Butt who cracked an unbeaten 39.
