Raja cuts loose in thumping Shaheen win

A stunning innings from batsman Babar Raja propelled Shaheen to an 89-run win over Luton Eagles in their Luton Midweek League clash on Tuesday night.

Raja hit a superb 77 from just 31 balls with nine fours and three sixes as Shaheed reached 176-5 from 16 overs.

Eagles could then only tally 87-5 in response, Abid unbeaten in 32, while Asif made 21, as Mohammad Irsh finished with 2-10 and Kamran Choudhery took 2-25.

Luton Haiderys had just too much for Luton CC, as they won by a mere three runs.

Batting first, Haiderys reached 141-8 from 16 overs thanks to a well-made 72 by MOM Shadrack Browne, as Luton CC then replied with 138-5.

The Saracens saw off Luton Pakistanis by eight runs in a surprise victory.

After batting first, Saracens totalled 111-8 from 16 overs, which proved beyond Pakistanis who were all out for 103, with Sajid Dar claiming 3-16 from just 20 balls.

In Division One, Accident Specialists defeated AKXI by 46 runs.

Buoyed by an excellent unbeaten 60 from star man Amman Hussain, Specialists put 158-4 on the board and then restricted their opponents to 112-8.

Luton Hawks were hammered by AKCC, as they went down by nine wickets.

Hawks could only muster 77 all out with the bat, as Sameem Saki took 4-16 from three overs for AKCC.

His team-mates then did the job comfortably, reaching 79-1 in the 11th over.

Luton United Stars beat Luton Saracens by 28 runs in their encounter.

Stars had first use of the wicket, making 154- 8 in 16 overs thanks to Umer Goundal’s 52 as Saracens then fell short on 126-6.

In Division Two, Hatters edged out Challney by 18 runs in their meeting, with Naseer Ahmed the star performer.

He scored a valuable 52 in Hatters’ total of 128-9 and then picked up three wickets as Challney were restricted to 110-7.

Haidery Tigers had too much for Cornered Tigers, triumphing by 32 runs.

Haidery managed 139-7 in 16 overs as Farhad Ali scored 49.

He then took two catches and two run outs as Cornered were dismissed for 107.

Luton Cricketers lost out to Kingsway by 6 wkts.

Batting first Luton reached 121-7 in 16 overs as Kingsway overtook them on 123-4, with Ali Hassan hitting 47.
