Record breakers Lutonian crowned champions again

Lutonian claimed the Bedfordshire County League Premier Division title for a record sixth time with a four-wicket win at Southill Park on Sunday.

Southill made 222, with Ahtzaz Ahmed taking 3-40, Aslam Khan 2-32, Kashif Bhatti 2-55 and Hamid Raiz 1-24.

Lutonian’s openers Naeem Khan (57) and Hamid Riaz (65) put on 132 and further contributions from Mohammed Haroon (25), Usman Farooq (22) and Zaheer Khan (21) helped them reach 225-6.

Luton Town & Indians edged to a four-wicket win against Dunstable to deny them the title.

Fine bowling from Khizer Manzoor (3-27), Gurpreet Singh (3-44) and Nitin Parsooth (2-23) saw Dunstable dismissed for 160, despite the best efforts of Mahesh Bhutiya (56) and Ian Gilbert (32).

An unbeaten 65 from Nikhil Mandale and Jatinder Singh’s 41 saw Luton to 161-6, despite Sam Cherry taking 3-28.
