Shafeeq leads Lions past Luton CC

Lions CC were narrow six run winners over Luton CC in the Luton Midweek League Premier Division clash on Tuesday night.

Batting first, Lions made 145-6 from 16 overs thanks to star man Uzair Shafeeq’s half century.

In reply, Luton could only tally 139-9 from 16 overs as Lions held on for victory.

Shaheen were beaten by Luton Pakistanis, going down by six wickets.

Some good contributions from Naeem Khan (31), Babar Raja (22) and Naeem Shahzad (29) saw Shaheen total 117-8 in 16 overs, as Yasir Hashmi claimed 3-15.

However, Pakistanis had too much in reserve, making 121-4 with two balls left thanks to Mohammed Haroon (23) and Mark Smith (25no), while Kamran Choudhery took 2-34.

Luton Eagles were also victorious, defeating The Saracens by 16 runs.

Batting first, Eagles made 116-8 in 16 overs but then managed to restrict their opponents to 100-8 as star man Abdul Rahim claimed 4-8 from three overs.

In Division One, Luton United Stars enjoyed a four wicket win over AKCC.

Making first use of the wicket, AKCC made 104-6 from 16 overs, but couldn’t defend their total, as star man Idrees Butt hit 33 in Stars’ replay of 106-6.

Kashmir Cavaliers fell to a five wicket defeat against ALXI in their contest,

Cavaliers put 115-4 on the board from 16 overs only to see AKXI reach 117-5 with five balls left thanks to 44 from Paris.

Luton Saracens were also beaten, as Luton Hawks emerged six wicket winners.

Saracens made 112-4 in 16 overs, before Hawks replied with 114-4 in the final over, as star man Sannwal Ilyas hit an unbeaten 49 and skipper Asif Khan made 30.

Division Two saw Cornered Tigers hammer Luton Cricketers by 10 wickets.

After Cricketers had been dismissed for 108, Tigers then reached 109-0 as MOM Sahib Isham compiled an unbeaten 51.

Gurdeep Jundoo scored 78 as Kingsway defeated Haidery Tigers by 16 runs.

Jundoo’s innings helped Kingsway amass 149-7 and they then restricted Tigers to 133-5 in reply.

Luton Majestic fell to a five wicket defeat against Challney.

Majestic made 145-5 with Afridi claiming a wicket before going on to score 45 in his side’s winning response of 146-5.
