Stubbings will shore it up for Bedfordshire

Former Derbyshire cricketer Steve Stubbings is hoping to bring his vast experience to the top of the Bedfordshire order this season, writes Mike Simmonds.

Stubbings, 33, enjoyed 12 years in the first class game with Derby, scoring over 7,500 runs with 12 hundreds, but has joined up with Beds for their Minor Counties campaign.

The Huddersfield-born batsman is also an ECB Level 3 coach and is now expected to open the batting for Beds this season starting with their opening fixture against Hertfordshire on Sunday.
