Ton-derful Mohammed sets up Lutonian victory

Suleiman Mohammed hit an unbeaten century as Lutonian IIs beat Biggleswade Town by 36 runs in their Bedfordshire County League Division One match on Sunday.

With the firsts out of action after Waresley conceded their Premier Division clash, Lutonian chose to bat, as Mohammed reached his hundred from the last ball of the innings, his landmark coming from 117 balls with nine fours and three sixes.

Captain Anil Ishaq added 37 and Ali Ikram made 30 as the visitors reached 236-7.

Star man Mohammed then took the last two wickets when he came on to bowl as seventh change, finishing with 2-14, while Umer Masood claimed 3-35, Mohammed Haroon 2-15 and Shamas Khan 2-46.

Harman Asif cracked a brilliant 150 as Lutonian beat Pilgrim Oakley by seven wickets in their Bedfordshire Invitation League Division One match.

Bowling first, Oakley made 250-6 as Bilal Yasin took 3-24 and Ishaq managed 2-10.

Asif then took over with the bat, hammering 150 with 14 sixes and five fours, supported by Zaheer Khan (51) as Lutonian eased to 251-3 in the 32nd over.

Ehtasham Sarwar produced stunning figures of 7-20 and Mahboob Baig scored a wonderful hundred as the IIs thumped Ampthill Town IVs by a massive 244 runs in Division Three.

Batting first, Baig racked up 143 from 101 balls with 23 fours, putting on 154 with Asif Mushtaq (58) for the first wicket, while Sarwar added a brisk 20 in Lutonian’s imposing 294-9.

Sarwar then ran through the Ampthill batting line-up, claiming 7-20, twice missing a hat-trick, with wickets also for Mohammed Shafique (1-1), Yaseer Masood (1-5) and Raja Ahmed (1-17).
