Deed does the business

A FIELD of 140 runners completed the first event in the Summer Series, the John O’Callaghan five-mile race comprising a two-lap course around Luton Hoo last Friday night.

The conditions suited Darren Deed (Bedford & County) who led from start to finish to clock 24.37mins. Deed, 34, won the event for the 12th year in a row, while rising junior Luton AC star Daniel Woodgate produced a valiant effort but finished nearly a minute down.

Louise Peters of Stopsley Striders won the ladies race from Luton’s Claire McMahon, with Luton claiming the team award.
