DIVING: Luton Diving Club to host Luton Challenge

Luton Diving Club are hosting the Luton Challenge at the Inspire:Luton Sports Village this weekend.

The event that takes place between Friday and Sunday is the longest running, annual, inter-club diving event.

Last year 131 divers from 17 national diving clubs competed and each time, the competition attracts some of the country’s international divers, plus members of past and current Olympic teams and GB’s top junior divers.

This year will be biggest event with record attendance as confirmed entries include Francesca Del Celo and Shanice Lobb (Plymouth Diving Club) who dived at the World Junior Diving Championships.

Club-mate Matthew Dixon who represented the GB team at the Commonwealth Games and won gold on platform at the British Championships is also scheduled to take part.

Luton Diving Club, who had a very successful year themselves, achieving 18 gold medals at the National, Regional and Invitational diving events will be represented by the likes of Katherine Kerr, who won two golds and Henry Biggs, who claimed silver at the National Age Groups event.

Entry to the Luton Challenge is £1, while a number of special guests have been invited to watch the Pairs Event on Saturday which is the only knockout diving event in the country, consisting of a male and female diver, one from Group A and one from Group B.
