Barton Rovers were held to their second successive stalemate during a goalless draw at home to Godalming on Saturday.

With club captain Paul Andrews unavailable and full back Lucas Perry out injured the back four were shuffled with good effect.

Rovers started the best of the two teams but neither could keep possession to carve any real chances as the play was contained mainly to midfield exchanges.

Joe Reynolds had Barton’s best effort of the half with a turning shot that visiting keeper O’Neal Garniss did well to save at full stretch.

Godalming almost had the lead on the stroke of half time when Louis Hutton’s shot clipped the bar.

If the first half was devoid of real golden opportunities then the paying public were treated to even less in the second period as the game degenerated into a scrappy affair with neither side able to keep hold of the ball for long.

Both keepers had an uneventful 45 mins as neither strike force could muster up more than a wayward speculative off target shot.

There were positives for Rovers as both Jason Blackett and Matt Nolan returned from injury along with Alex Condon who saw out the full 90 minutes.

Another point along with a clean sheet will give Rovers manager Jon Reed something to build on for the trip to top of the table AFC Rushden & Diamonds this Saturday.
