Under new management team Lee Bearman and Jon Reed, the hosts set out a very attacking formation for the season opener.

It took them two minutes to create their first chance too, as keeper Sam Bunting pulled of a great double save to deny new signing Elliot Bailey and then Jason Blackett.

Rovers continued to dominated the early stages, as on 15 minutes Tuki Tayali skilfully chested the ball on for Bailey, who made no mistake in opening the scoring.

Kyle Forster was having a quiet time in Barton’s goal until he had to save at the feet of Robert Gerrard on 40 minutes.

He was beaten on the stroke of half time though as a cross from Aaron Minhas found Gerrard who smashed home.

In the second period, Warren Plowright took a heavy knock on the hour mark as he was replaced by Jack Keating, which saw Barton change their formation.

The hosts still pushed hard for a winner though as Jordan Davis and Mahmut Caglar were both introduced, but despite having most of the pressure, they couldn’t force a late winner.
