Barton Rovers enjoyed an excellent win at high-flying Egham Town on Saturday.

The hosts went into the game in the knowledge that victory would have seen them go second, while Barton were forced into chances as Tyler Ingham and George Ironton came in for suspended duo James Bishop and Lucas Perry.

The visitors started brightly, keeping Egham on the back foot and almost went ahead on 30 minutes when Alex O’Brien’s shot hit the post.

Barton’s talented youngster Ingham was a real handful all afternoon and it was he who did open the scoring three minutes before the break, holding off two Egham defenders to calmly slot past the keeper.

In the second half, Rovers continued to dominate and had the buffer of a second goal when another fine move saw Jordan Davis smash home from the edge of the box.

Barton keeper Kyle Forster was a mere spectator for most of the game, as Rovers’ back-line restricted their hosts to long distance shots.

Man of the match was Ashton Grant as his side made it back-to-back away wins and climbed to 16th in the table.

Barton are at home to St Ives this evening.
